General Information

What is a Craft Guild?

The Craft Guild of Iowa City is a non-profit organization of crafters from throughout East Central Iowa who come together to share knowledge and promote interest in traditional crafts and provide opportunities for creative development. The crafts currently practiced by members include ceramics, spinning, weaving, knitting, quilting, beading and  ply-split braiding.

Membership is open to those 18 years and older who want to explore, expand and share their skills. Members share in various activities within and outside the Guild to promote interest in their craft and our organization.  They volunteer their time and talent by serving on committees, working on Guild projects, sharing in maintenance, participating in local events like the Iowa City Arts Festival and supporting statewide and regional craft organizations. Our nonprofit status prohibits the use of Guild facilities  for personal profit and we do not have personal studio work space.  Dues and fees are for operation of the house and grounds, class supplies and equipment maintenance.
